About the Collective
We came together to make a difference. The Social Counselling Collective is tackling social injustice by offering a new model of Social Counselling.
Social Counselling is about taking Counselling practice out of its conventional settings and and into popular and well used social spaces. We are happy to counsel anywhere possible, working with organisations and social groups that are already tackling social and economic problems.
Despite an increased focus on Mental Wellbeing, Mental ill-health and Mental Health, many people never get the chance to speak to a counsellor. There are many reasons for this, some of them relate to stigma and the continuing sense of shame and embarrassment that comes wi0th 00talking openly about oneself, some relate to the lack of opportunity to ever have contact with a counsellor, and some people simply can’t afford it.
We realise that if people can't get to us, we can try and get to them. This is a true Social model, involving community partnerships with other social, community and commercial organisations as part of our social counselling model.
